Southern Bread Pudding

I love the addition of the cinnamon sauce to this already amazing recipe. It’s like pouring icing down over an already sweet, dreamy and pillowy dessert in your mouth. The south really know what they are doing.
Ingredients -

3 Cups Milk
6 Eggs (lightly beaten)

Cinnamon Sauce:

1 1/2 Cups Water
1/2 Cups Brown Sugar
1/2 Cups Sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons Cornstarch

2 Tablespoons Butter
1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla Extract

2. Grease lightly with butter 9'x13' pan or a 2 quart casserole dish.

3. In the bottom of the baking pan/dish cube the bread and place it in.

4. Sprinkle in the raisins.

5. Combine eggs, milk, sugar and nutmeg in a large mixing bowl.

6. Pour over bread mixture.

7. Dot it with butter.

8. Bake in all in the center of your oven for 75 minutes or until if you insert a knife in the center it comes out clean.

10. CINNAMON SAUCE:

11. In a small pan combine the sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch.

12. Bring to a boil the water slowly, stirring constantly.

13. Boil another minute longer.

14. Remove from heat and add the butter and vanilla extract.

15. Pour over the baked pudding.

Cooking Tip
Non Stick Cooking Spray
You can use non stick cooking spray instead of greasing the pan lightly with butter if you want to cut down on the calories. Just remember that you need to spray it liberally so that the bread and butter pudding doesn’t stick to the pan.

Cooking Tip
Raisins
If you aren’t fond of raisins it’s optional to leave them out. Some people do like them some people don’t it is totally up to you. You can also add nuts if you like those as well. Adds a nice little crunch.
